Creating ways to Sell Art part #2

with 2 comments

Setting up the new website pages is a little time consuming for me. I should have something up by Monday night. I’ve been looking around at what other people are doing, and “A Painting a Day” has many followers. Some wonderful work. Check links here for Luis Colan, Silver Fortress, Painting in Oil and State of the Art.

In addition to trying to move my works on paper, I am pushing for a second gallery, California or one of the Carolina’s, to handle my paintings. For some unknown reason, I’ve always been concerned with not having enough work to show. I’m also thinking about making prints of some of my older paintings. I am open to any ideas/thoughts.

with 9 comments

Cybel, Avotte and I are all participating in the group show at the ABC Film & Video Studio in NYC Thursday September 14, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This is a mixed discipline art showing and should attract a diverse group. Couple

Almost twenty years ago Cybel and I did a two person show in New York, which is a memorable highlight for me.

So if your hanging out in NYC, stop by see the show.

It’s a Holiday and It’s Hot

The paint that I’m using must know, it’s taking it’s time in finishing the paintings I am working on.

Movies Pre-Show Entertainment.

This must mean something!! We have all gone to the movies and watched those trivia questions and thought that we were smart because we knew the answers. As they rolled by we would mumble the answer quickly, pretending we were on Jeopardy. One of the questions recently was a true or false:

"Was the real Mona Lisa used in the filming of the DaVinci Code"?

The answer will surprise you.

"False, the crew was not allowed to shine lights on the Original Print".

Learning how to paint out doors-“Out Doors”

with one comment

I am determined to understand the magic of painting outdoors. This is as close as I have gotten ever, but it still looks like I painted it in my studio.Outdoor I confess, that I started it outside but had to continue working in the studio. I am uncomfortable with having nature dictate how quickly I need to paint. ( I must think I'm special).

Breathing In and Out.

with 2 comments

An incredible week, lots of ups and downs, but overall very good. I made a promise to myself to just keep on working and not to pass judgement on what I was doing. Just paint and see what happens. I passed just a little judgement on myself, and tried not to go crazy over interruptions. I am pleased with the results, I'm still breathing.

Yesterday I talked more with some of my painter friends about my teaching, so it looks like I need to do more then just think about it. Next week I will create an outline for my class.

Also on my plate is creating a show (if possible) for Dr. Grigsby's ABC group (Artist in the Black Community, AZ) at the Shemer Museum in Phoenix.
Tonight is the 12th Annual Beaux Arts event at the Scottsdale Artist School
A very cool event.

My Daughter just got back from Nigeria. She went to teach a class on film production, but it sounded like the trip was part of continuing education for her. I am happy she is back.
